Water Bottles and Snack Policy
Water Bottles
It is important for our bodies and our brains to stay hydrated during the school day, so please make sure that your child has a re-usable, easily-closed water bottle at school. They will be sent home once in a while to be washed and we will refill them with fresh water daily. It is very helpful to have these water bottles in class, because we don't have a drinking fountain in class. This saves my instructional minutes so they don't have to leave the class as often to drink water. Thanks so much for your help with this!!
Snack Policy
One of my greatest responsibilities as a teacher is to make sure that each and every child in my classroom is healthy and safe while at school. This year, I will need your help and support and your child's cooperation in order to ensure the health of all the students in my class.
First, I would ask that you arrange your child's snack that they eat in the classroom to consist of fruits and vegetables or any other food that you consider healthy. PLEASE REFRAIN FROM SENDING IN ANYTHING PEANUT/NUT RELATED to help keep all of the kids safe against allergic reactions. Or anything that may have been processed with peanuts/tree nuts. Fresh fruits and fresh veggies are ideal, but also raisins, canned fruits, fruit cocktail, applesauce, yogurt, cheese or crackers. Again, these are just SOME examples. This requirement not only ensures the safety of these students, but it also encourages healthy eating habits for everyone, and will guarantee that I do not need to spend precious instructional minutes checking and reading nutrition labels or passing out approved snacks each day during snack time. Please be aware that this is only a requirement for the snack which will be eaten in the classroom. Lunch and snacks that are to be eaten in the lunchroom have absolutely no limitations.
